Protecting troops with flatproof tyres

A newly formulated RePneu TV (Tactical Vehicle) flatproofing fill from Arnco designed specifically for military vehicles withstands up to .50 caliber ballistic rifle shots, is puncture resistant from shrapnel and battle debris, and prevents catastrophic tyre blowouts.

The new flatproofing technology eliminates flat tires and resulting downtime in hazardous operating environments and is being used by troops in a variety of mission-specific applications.

The patented liquid polyurethane polymer – pumped into the tyre through the valve stem – replaces all of the air and cures to a resilient synthetic rubber core.

In addition to improving vehicle stability with extra elastomeric polymer support, the new material also improves traction and tyre wear and is effective in vehicles traveling up to 88 Km/h for eight hours.

Online test result footage of RePneu TV is available by emailing Glen Wolfenden at glen@bearcat.com.au
